Indonesia’s Ministry of Tourism hosted four travel agencies and tour operators from Singapore on a familiarisation trip to Yogyakarta and surrounding areas from 28 September to 2 October 2026. The initiative aimed to promote wellness and culinary experiences and encourage travel packages tailored to Singaporean visitors, featuring destination visits and a business-matching session at Hotel Tentrem Yogyakarta on 30 September.

Ni Made Ayu Marthini, Deputy for Marketing at Indonesia’s Ministry of Tourism, said the visit would help Singaporean travel professionals develop itineraries suited to customer preferences and improve the country’s competitiveness in regional markets.

“Through this fam trip, we aim to help Singaporean travel agents formulate quality tourism packages tailored to their market demand, while also strengthening Indonesia’s tourism competitiveness at the regional level,” Deputy Marthini said.

She added that the initiative supported Indonesia’s 2026 international tourist arrival target and efforts to promote high-quality travel experiences.

Participants began with a wellness session at Garrya Bianti before heading to Dagi Abhinaya to watch the sunrise against the backdrop of Borobudur Temple and sample Indonesian cuisine. The itinerary also included dining at Omah Kecebong and a gala dinner at Mediterranea Restaurant under the Wonderful Indonesia Gastronomy initiative.

The business-matching forum enabled Singaporean representatives to meet local industry players and explore potential commercial partnerships. It was intended to encourage the creation of packages reflecting demand in the Singapore market.

Deputy Marthini said the destination was selected in response to growing interest among Singaporean travellers in wellness-focused holidays and authentic food experiences. She highlighted its traditional wellness practices and culinary heritage as potential draws for visitors.

She expressed hope that the participants’ first-hand experience would help them create itineraries showcasing the region’s attractions.

The initiative involved Garuda Indonesia, the country’s national flag carrier, and Hotel Tentrem Yogyakarta, with support from InJourney, Indonesia’s state-owned tourism holding company, as well as Bale Raos and Plataran Borobudur.

“The Tourism Ministry remains committed to effectively promoting Indonesia’s leading tourist destinations to help drive economic growth while strengthening the competitiveness of the national tourism sector,” Deputy Marthini said.
