Visit marks new chapter in bilateral ties with focus on cooperation, connectivity and community
SINGAPORE, 16 June 2025 — President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, is currently in Singapore for his first State and working visit since taking office as Indonesia’s eighth President. The visit, held from 15 to 16 June 2025, underscores the long-standing and strategic partnership between both countries.

President Prabowo arrived at Paya Lebar Air Base on the evening of 15 June and was received with high honours. Singapore’s Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Lawrence Wong, personally welcomed the Indonesian leader at the foot of the aircraft stairs. Also present at the airport were Singapore’s Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, Ambassador to Indonesia Kwok Fook Seng, and Indonesian Ambassador to Singapore Suryo Pratomo.

President Prabowo was then greeted by enthusiastic members of the Indonesian diaspora, including schoolchildren, at the Fullerton Hotel upon his arrival. Their warm welcome added a heartfelt touch to the official programme, celebrating the strong people-to-people ties that complement intergovernmental relations.

Today, President Prabowo received a ceremonial welcome at Parliament House, followed by a call on President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, who will host a State Banquet in his honour. A key highlight of the visit is the Singapore-Indonesia Leaders’ Retreat, which brings together President Prabowo and Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Lawrence Wong for the first time in their current capacities. As the highest-level platform between both countries, the Retreat provides a forum to take stock of bilateral cooperation and map out future initiatives. Both leaders are expected to discuss strategic areas including defence, the green economy, and connectivity.
President Prabowo accompanied by a high-level delegation of ten ministers, including Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Foreign Minister Sugiono, and Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian, reflecting the breadth of engagement and shared ambition for bilateral advancement.
