Minister Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno gives his support for the Indonesian Street Food Festival in Melbourne to be held in March to boost awareness of Indonesia’s culinary presence abroad and fostering food diplomacy!

INDONESIAN Tourism and Creative Economy Minister, Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, expressed gave his endorsement for the Indonesian Street Food Festival that will take place from 16th to 17th March 2024 at the Queen Victoria Market in Melbourne, Australia, aligning with the government’s efforts to showcase Indonesian cuisine worldwide.

During a meeting with members of the Indonesian Culinary Association of Victoria (ICAV) in Melbourne on 20th February 2024 Minister Uno emphasised the festival’s significance in promoting Indonesian food and spices, consistent with President Joko Widodo’s Indonesia Spice Up the World Program.

Organised in collaboration with the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival 2024, renowned for promoting Victoria’s culinary diversity, the Indonesian Street Food Festival will feature 12 food vendors offering a wide array of authentic Indonesian delicacies.

Minister Uno, optimistic about the festival’s success, underscored the importance of such events in advancing Indonesian gastrodiplomacy, leveraging culinary diversity as a strategic asset to bolster Indonesia’s presence in the global tourism and creative economy landscape.

During his visit, Minister Uno also patronised Indonesian restaurants along Melbourne’s Lygon Street, acknowledging their pivotal role in promoting Indonesia’s rich culinary heritage and enhancing the country’s allure in the international tourism and creative economy sectors.
