INDONESIA’S Minister of Investment and Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), Mr. Rosan Roeslani, held a meeting with the founder and leader of Raffles Medical Group, Dr Loo Choon Yong and Dr Alfred Loh, during his working visit to Singapore on Wednesday, September 18th, 2024. The healthcare giant expressed strong interest in investing in Indonesia’s healthcare sector, particularly in building hospitals across the country.

The meeting underscored the importance of developing Indonesia’s healthcare sector, which is a priority under the incoming administration of President-elect Prabowo. The potential for growth in healthcare infrastructure, coupled with the need for human resource development, was a key focus of the discussion. Investment in this sector is seen as essential to meeting the healthcare needs of Indonesia’s growing population, particularly in cities where access to quality healthcare is limited.

Raffles Medical Group conveyed its intent to not only establish hospitals but also collaborate on workforce development programs. These programs would aim to enhance the skills of Indonesian healthcare professionals, including doctors, specialists, nurses, and hospital administrators, ensuring that local talent is equipped to support the industry’s growth.

The Ministry of Investment/BKPM pledged to facilitate the follow-up process for Raffles’ investment plans, ensuring that the initiative brings tangible benefits to the Indonesian people.
