The Indonesian Maritime Security Agency (Bakamla) and Singapore Coast Guard enhanced their collaboration on maritime security and law enforcement through the Muhibah mission of KN Pulau Dana-323
On October 14th, 2024, the Indonesian Maritime Security Agency (Bakamla RI) and the Singapore Coast Guard (SPCG) strengthened their synergy in ensuring maritime security, safety, and law enforcement between their respective waters. This was achieved through the Muhibah mission of KN Pulau Dana-323, which had previously completed a similar mission in Vietnam before docking in Singapore.
Captain Yuhanes Antara, spokesperson for Bakamla, confirmed the arrival of KN Pulau Dana-323 in Singapore, marking the culmination of its mission. During the visit, the Head of Bakamla RI, Rear Admiral Irvansyah, held a courtesy call with SAC Cheang Keng Keong, Commander of the Singapore Police Coast Guard (SPCG), at the SPCG Headquarters in Singapore.
The mission aimed to deepen cooperation between the two coast guards. The courtesy call was followed by introductions between the teams and discussions on future collaboration. The SPCG expressed a desire to visit Jakarta in 2025 and invited Bakamla RI to participate in an anti-smuggling joint exercise scheduled for the following year. Rear Admiral Irvansyah welcomed these initiatives, signalling Indonesia’s commitment to fostering stronger international partnerships.
The KN Pulau Dana-323 mission is part of the ASEAN Coast Guard Forum (ACF), a platform for Southeast Asian countries to promote regional maritime cooperation. The mission reflects the growing collaboration between Indonesia and its neighbours, particularly in enhancing maritime security and tackling shared challenges in the region.
