Deputy Speaker of DPR RI Sufmi Dasco Ahmad met Singaporean Ambassador Kwok Fook Seng in Jakarta to discuss opportunities for collaboration in renewable energy and food security.
On Friday, 17 January 2025, Indonesian House of Representatives’ (DPR RI) Deputy Speaker Sufmi Dasco Ahmad engaged in a meeting with Singaporean Ambassador to Indonesia Kwok Fook Seng at the Parliament Complex in Jakarta. The discussions centered around potential collaborations in renewable energy, food security, and other areas of mutual interest.
“We discussed renewable energy, food, and cooperation in various fields,” Ahmad stated following the meeting. He noted that Singapore had recently conducted meetings with several Indonesian ministers, including Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia, and Investment Minister Rosan Roeslani. These meetings aimed to explore investment and cooperation opportunities.
Ahmad clarified that while no agreements were finalized during this meeting, the focus was on coordination and laying the groundwork for future government-to-government (G-to-G) discussions on new and renewable energy (NRE). He also mentioned that the free nutritious meal program (MBG) was not discussed.
Ambassador Seng expressed his gratitude for the warm reception at the parliament and emphasized the importance of fostering communication on ongoing cooperation efforts between Indonesia and Singapore. He expressed hope that the parliament would support government activities in regulating economic partnerships.
The meeting was also attended by Deputy Chairman of DPR RI Commission XII Bambang Haryadi and Commission XI Mohamad Hekal. Ambassador Seng was accompanied by Deputy Ambassador of Singapore to Indonesia Terrence Teo and Secretary of the Singaporean Ambassador to Indonesia Jonathan Seng.
