A study visit by marine technology students from ITS Surabaya to the Indonesian Embassy in Singapore highlights regional cooperation and the future of Southeast Asia’s maritime industry.
Singapore, 8 October 2025 — The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) in Singapore welcomed a delegation of students from the Faculty of Marine Technology, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) Surabaya, as part of their field study programme aimed at deepening their understanding of the maritime and transport industries across Southeast Asia.

During the visit, the students engaged in a dialogue session with the Embassy’s officials, including Indonesia’s Transportation Attaché in Singapore, Mr Wahyu Ardiyanto. He shared insights on global maritime trends, international shipping policies, and the strategic role of Indonesia within global trade and logistics networks. The session offered a comparative perspective on how Indonesia and Singapore are navigating developments in the shipping sector.

The discussion was highly interactive, with students showing great enthusiasm by posing questions on maritime technology innovations, cross-border collaborations, and the challenges facing the shipping industry in the digital era. Through the exchange, they gained a broader understanding of the maritime sector’s vital role in supporting both national and regional economies.
The visit also served as a meaningful platform to inspire Indonesia’s younger generation to contribute to the development of maritime technology and strengthen the nation’s competitiveness in marine transportation. By fostering connections between academia and government institutions, initiatives like this reflect Indonesia’s commitment to building world-class human resources in the maritime field — in line with its vision to become a sustainable and globally competitive maritime axis.
