Mr Kao Kim Hourn, Secretary-General of ASEAN, met with Mr Sugiono, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Indonesia, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Jakarta.

During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on recent regional developments, including preparations for the upcoming Special ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting on the Situation in the Middle East scheduled for the following week. Discussions also focused on strengthening ASEAN’s resilience in addressing potential risks related to food and energy insecurity.

The Secretary-General and the Foreign Minister further discussed ASEAN’s key priorities for the year, as well as preparations for the 48th ASEAN Summit, which will be held in May 2026 under the Philippines’ Chairship.

The meeting underscored continued coordination between ASEAN and its Member States in addressing regional and global challenges, while advancing the organisation’s agenda for cooperation, stability, and sustainable development.
