Indonesia’s Minister of Defence, H.E. Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, welcomed Singapore’s Minister for Defence, Chan Chun Sing, to Jakarta for bilateral discussions aimed at strengthening defence cooperation. The meeting preceded the Indonesia–Singapore Defence Alumni Launch Ceremony and the Singapore Armed Forces Day Reception 2026.
Mr. Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, Indonesia’s Minister of Defence, received Singapore’s Minister for Defence, Mr. Chan Chun Sing, at the Ministry of Defence headquarters in Jakarta on 14 July 2026. The visit reflected the close and longstanding defence partnership between Indonesia and Singapore, with both ministers reaffirming their commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation.
Upon his arrival at the Ministry of Defence, Mr. Chan Chun Sing was welcomed by Mr. Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin before the two ministers held discussions in a warm and cordial atmosphere. The meeting underscored the strong working relationship between the defence establishments of both countries and their shared commitment to maintaining regular high-level engagement.
During the talks, the ministers exchanged views on a range of strategic defence issues and regional security developments. They highlighted the importance of strengthening communication, coordination and bilateral defence cooperation in addressing evolving security challenges across the region.
The bilateral meeting also served as a precursor to the Indonesia–Singapore Defence Alumni Launch Ceremony and the Singapore Armed Forces Day Reception 2026, where both ministers participated in commemorative engagements that further reinforced defence ties between the two neighbouring nations.
Following their discussions at the Ministry of Defence, Mr. Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin and Mr. Chan Chun Sing departed together to attend the official events, marking another milestone in the continued development of Indonesia–Singapore defence relations.
