Indonesian Ambassadors H.E. Suryo Pratomo and H.E. Hermono, along with representatives from the World Bank, engage in fruitful discussions on Indonesia’s FDI landscape and sustainable growth strategies during an FGD in Kuala Lumpur.

On 5 February 2025, Ambassador H.E. Suryo Pratomo, Indonesia’s envoy to Singapore, and Ambassador H.E. Hermono, Indonesia’s Ambassador to Malaysia, actively participated in a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) organized by the World Bank in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This important gathering focused on Indonesia’s growing appeal as a destination for foreign direct investment (FDI) and its broader economic strategy within the ASEAN region.

Ambassador H.E. Suryo Pratomo, who has been instrumental in fostering closer ties between Indonesia and Singapore, emphasized Indonesia’s strategic economic position. He highlighted Indonesia’s rapid economic reforms, commitment to digital transformation, and robust infrastructure development as pivotal factors in attracting foreign investors. He also discussed Indonesia’s role as a key player in ASEAN, particularly in areas of trade, technology, and sustainable development.

During his remarks, Ambassador Pratomo stressed Indonesia’s efforts to streamline regulations through the Omnibus Law, create a more investor-friendly climate, and boost partnerships in critical sectors such as manufacturing, digital economy, and green energy. He outlined Indonesia’s ongoing projects that focus on building sustainable infrastructure and driving innovation in key industries.

Ambassador H.E. Hermono complemented these points by providing updates on Indonesia’s bilateral relations with Malaysia and shared insights into specific regulatory and market access improvements being implemented.

This FGD underscored Indonesia’s determination to position itself as a leader in the region, attracting investments and fostering partnerships that align with sustainable growth goals. The dialogue also served as an opportunity to exchange perspectives on how ASEAN nations can collaborate to overcome global economic challenges.
