WEST Java International Airport (BIJB) Kertajati announced the opening of a new flight route from Kertajati (Majalengka) to Singapore, beginning on September 28th, 2024. Mr. Muhammad Singgih, Director of PT BIJB, shared in Bandung, West Java, that the airline Scoot will operate this new route.

Mr. Singgih expressed optimism that Scoot’s new service would mark a significant revival for Kertajati Airport, highlighting its advanced facilities. To celebrate the launch, promotional tickets priced at IDR 450,000 became available for purchase starting August 6th, 2024.

In addition to the promotional tickets, BIJB Kertajati is offering 3,014 free shuttle travel tickets between the airport and various locations. Of these, 1,360 are provided by Scoot, valid through the end of December 2024. Travellers can claim these tickets by presenting their boarding pass or booking confirmation.

The Majalengka-Singapore route is the second international commercial flight from BIJB, following the earlier launch of the Majalengka-Kuala Lumpur route. Mr. Singgih hopes that this new service will pave the way for more direct flights to global destinations, including potential routes to the Middle East.

Mr. Benny Bachtiar, Head of the West Java Tourism and Culture Office, noted that BIJB’s extensive facilities and successful track record, including its role as a hajj embarkation and debarkation point, make it well-positioned to enhance regional tourism. The new route is expected to stimulate tourism in northern West Java, benefiting cities such as Cirebon, Majalengka, Kuningan, and Indramayu.

The addition of the Majalengka-Singapore route will also improve connectivity between two provinces, providing easier access for travellers from both West Java and Central Java, particularly with the Trans-Java Toll Road and the Cisumdawu Toll Road.
