Singapore, 25 July 2025 — The Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Singapore, H.E. Suryo Pratomo, received Rear Admiral Dr Imam Subekti, Director of International Legal Instruments at Indonesia’s National Counter-Terrorism Agency (BNPT), at the Indonesian Embassy in Singapore on Thursday (25 July). The meeting was part of ongoing strategic coordination to support the prevention of violent extremism through engagement with the Indonesian diaspora and migrant worker communities in Singapore.

Both sides highlighted the importance of a community-based approach to building social resilience against extremist ideologies. Ambassador Pratomo emphasised the Embassy’s commitment to empowering Indonesian nationals—including migrant workers—as strategic partners in maintaining social harmony and national unity abroad.

He further noted the need to ensure that Indonesian citizens in Singapore have access to information, positive community activities, and open forums that help prevent the spread of intolerance and radical thought.

Rear Admiral Dr Imam Subekti expressed his appreciation for the active role played by the Indonesian Embassy in nurturing a resilient diaspora community. He stressed the importance of cross-sector collaboration with community leaders, religious groups, and diaspora organisations to reinforce ideological resilience among Indonesians overseas.

During the visit, BNPT also discussed plans to enhance international cooperation in counter-extremism through legal diplomacy and strategic information exchange, including with Singaporean security authorities. The meeting reinforced the synergy between Indonesia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and BNPT in support of the Indonesia Emas 2045 vision of a secure, inclusive, and extremism-free future.
