Minister Airlangga Hartarto swiftly initiates a series of economic cooperation discussions with Singaporean counterparts, following the conclusion of the IPEF (Indo-Pacific Economic Framework for Prosperity) 2024 Ministerial Meeting and IPEF Clean Economy Investor Forum on 5-6 June 2024

IN line with the completion of IPEF Ministerial Meeting and the IPEF Clean Economy Investor Forum on 5-6 June 2024, Indonesian Economic Coordinator Minister Airlangga Hartarto wasted no time in leveraging the momentum to conduct a series of meetings aimed at fostering economic cooperation. On Friday 7th June, he commenced the day with a breakfast meeting with Singaporean Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) Gan Kim Yong, before co-chairing the 6th Bilateral Working Group Meeting between Indonesia and Singapore.

Minister Airlangga proceeded to The Istana after his discussion with DPM Gan, where he met with Singaporean President Tharman Shanmugaratnam and Prime Minister Lawrence Wong. The one-on-one meeting between Minister Airlangga and President Tharman lasted for around 45 minutes, exceeding the scheduled time. They discussed various issues related to the green revolution and agriculture, also Temasek’s potential support for developing a modern food system, along with other geo-economic issues.

After the meeting with President Tharman, Minister Airlangga held a separate meeting at The Istana with Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI). Besides conveying the outcomes of the Bilateral Working Group meeting, they discussed various economic cooperation issues, including Singapore’s support for Indonesia’s OECD accession and Indonesia’s joining of the CPTPP (Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership). The meeting with Prime Minister Wong lasted nearly 1 hour, proved to be highly productive and discussed numerous sustainability issues for future bilateral cooperation.

Accompanying Minister Airlangga in these important meetings were Deputy Economic Minister Susiwijono Moegiarso, Indonesian Ambassador to Singapore Suryo Pratomo, and Economic Ministry Advisors.
