The Indonesia Economic Summit (IES) 2025 officially commenced in Jakarta, drawing over 1,500 participants from 48 countries. Organised by the Indonesian Business Council (IBC), the forum features 100 speakers, including policymakers, business leaders, experts, and academics.
Arsjad Rasjid, Chairman of the IBC Supervisory Board, highlighted that IES 2025 focuses on two key themes: growth and prosperity. “We hope that IES 2025 is not just a gathering place but a turning point where ideas become concrete actions, ensuring significant impact on Indonesia’s economic growth and public welfare,” he stated.
IBC CEO Sofyan Djalil underscored the summit’s role in strengthening private sector contributions to economic development through supportive public policies. Meanwhile, IBC COO William Sabandar emphasised the relevance of IES 2025’s discussions amid global geopolitical shifts, covering topics such as economic priorities, monetary policies, industrial growth, and trade strategy.
ParagonCorp Co-founder and IBC member Salman Subakat reiterated the need for policies that bolster the manufacturing sector, a crucial driver of inclusive and sustainable growth.
IES 2025 also facilitated the signing of several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) between the government, private companies, and international institutions, supporting initiatives in renewable energy, digital infrastructure, and human resource development. Notably, a renewable energy centre in Eastern Indonesia and a vocational training programme were announced to enhance local workforce competencies.
The summit is expected to catalyse real actions that will accelerate Indonesia’s economic progress in a sustainable and inclusive manner.
