President Joko Widodo and Defence Minister Prabowo Subianto welcomed Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Deputy Prime Minister Lawrence Wong for a Leaders’ Retreat
PRESIDENT Joko Widodo, accompanied by Defence Minister and President-Elect Prabowo Subianto, extended a warm welcome to Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Deputy Prime Minister Lawrence Wong at Bogor Palace on Monday, 29th April 2024.
The high-profile meeting aimed to strengthen the longstanding ties between Indonesia and Singapore. It reaffirmed the importance of fostering strong relationships, highlighting shared interests and the potential for mutually beneficial collaboration.
In-depth discussions covering significant topics, primarily centred around a comprehensive review of bilateral cooperation and agreements. Among the main issues under scrutiny were the Flight Information Region (FIR) in the Riau Islands and Natuna, the 2022 Extradition Agreement, the 2007 Defence Cooperation Pact, and the 2014 Agreement on the Determination of Territorial Sea Boundaries in the Eastern Part of the Singapore Strait in September 2017. In addition, both countries explored ways for enhancing cooperation in investment and trade.
