The initiative unites Indonesian restaurant owners in Singapore, promoting Nusantara’s culinary heritage and strengthening gastro-diplomacy
Singapore, 27 November 2025 — The Indonesian Embassy in Singapore proudly celebrated the first anniversary of Komunitas Rasa Indonesia, an initiative launched by the Trade Attaché to bring together Indonesian restaurant owners in Singapore and promote gastro-diplomacy through the richness of Nusantara cuisine.

Since its establishment in 2024, Komunitas Rasa Indonesia has grown rapidly. From 24 founding member restaurants, the community now includes 28 establishments with a total of 60 branches across Singapore. This expansion reflects the enthusiasm and dedication of Indonesian culinary entrepreneurs in offering authentic flavours to local residents and the Indonesian diaspora alike.
The first-anniversary celebration marked a key moment to recognise the creativity, innovation, and spirit of Indonesian culinary practitioners who act as cultural ambassadors abroad. Through traditional Nusantara dishes, they contribute to introducing Indonesian culture more broadly and enhancing Indonesia’s presence in the global culinary scene.

Indonesian Ambassador to Singapore, Suryo Pratomo, attended the event and emphasised the Embassy’s commitment to supporting the development and promotion of Indonesian cuisine overseas. He highlighted that collaboration among culinary entrepreneurs is essential to strengthening the Indonesian culinary brand and enhancing the competitiveness of Indonesia’s food industry in international markets.
The Indonesian Embassy hopes Komunitas Rasa Indonesia will continue to grow as a solid collaborative platform for Indonesian culinary businesses. Through close cooperation, the community is expected to raise the profile of Indonesian cuisine, making it increasingly recognised, appreciated, and celebrated on the global stage.
