Jambi University and Temasek Polytechnic Singapore have formed a partnership to enhance educational research and technological exchange, particularly in agricultural land mapping using drones
JAMBI University and Temasek Polytechnic Singapore strengthened their educational cooperation, focusing on the use of drones for agricultural land mapping. The Vice-Rector for Planning, Cooperation, and Information Systems at Jambi University, Prof. Revis Asra, announced on Tuesday, August 13rd, 2024, in Jambi that this partnership encompassed the development of research and community service opportunities for both lecturers and students at the university.
Prof. Revis Asra highlighted the advanced drone technology available at Temasek Polytechnic, noting its potential to assist in identifying suitable areas for agricultural development. He emphasised that this technology could be optimised through collaborative efforts with district and city governments, the Jambi Provincial Government, and Temasek Polytechnic for agricultural land mapping.
The cooperation aimed to determine the most suitable land for cultivating crops like rice and chilies, aligning with current strategic issues addressed by the government. Additionally, the Vice-Rector expressed hope for increased opportunities for student internships and knowledge transfer for lecturers, particularly in technological fields.
The partnership also aimed to support government initiatives, such as achieving food self-sufficiency and other related goals.
