The Indonesian Embassy in Singapore facilitated a study visit for Indonesian healthcare professionals to NUH and SGH, focusing on advanced technology, patient care management, and potential collaborations.
On December 12, 2024, the Economic Affairs Section of the Indonesian Embassy in Singapore facilitated a study visit for 55 Indonesian healthcare professionals, including representatives from Indonesia’s Ministry of Health. The visit took place at two of Singapore’s leading hospitals, National University Hospital (NUH) and Singapore General Hospital (SGH).
At NUH, the group was welcomed by Dr. Diana Santos, Head of NUH Global Academy. Participants attended knowledge-sharing sessions covering topics such as medical education curriculum, patient service management from registration to discharge, advanced technologies in cardiovascular care (NUHCS), oral disease treatment (NUCOHS), and emergency obstetrics management.
Meanwhile, a second group visited SGH, where they were greeted by Wayan Tsai, Director of the International Collaboration Office at SingHealth. This session focused on advancements in organ transplantation and post-transplant management, cancer screening and treatment technologies, electronic medical record implementation, and minimally invasive surgical techniques. The participants also engaged in discussions with speakers, including Indonesian-origin doctors with long-standing careers at SGH.
The study visit included tours of healthcare facilities in both hospitals, such as cancer, heart, and oral health clinics. Participants observed patient-centered care standards supported by cutting-edge technologies and empathetic approaches.
The discussions highlighted potential opportunities for collaboration between Indonesian and Singaporean healthcare institutions to enhance the capacity and quality of Indonesian healthcare professionals. Participants are expected to apply these insights to improve healthcare services in their respective regions, contributing to the overall advancement of Indonesia’s healthcare sector.
