OIKN INITIATES EDUCATIONAL INITIATIVE TO ENHANCE ENGLISH PROFICIENCY AMONG ELEMENTARY STUDENTS IN SEPAKU SUB-DISTRICT, EAST KALIMANTAN.
The Nusantara Capital City Authority (OIKN) conducted the Friday English Fun (FEF) Program at several elementary schools in the vicinity of Sepaku Sub-district, Penajam Paser Utara District, East Kalimantan, with the aim of fostering students’ interest in learning English.
The program, spearheaded by OIKN’s Director of Basic Services, Dr. Suwito, is held regularly every Friday, involving all elementary school students in the surrounding areas.
FEF, an initiative under the Deputy for Socio-Cultural Affairs and Community Empowerment, is designed to enhance English language skills among Indonesian students, with recent sessions conducted at three state elementary schools (SDN) in Sepaku.
Activities during FEF include English counting exercises, body parts recognition, singing in English, English market day, simple quizzes, and more, all aimed at making the learning experience enjoyable for students.
Dr. Suwito affirmed the continuation of FEF in other schools within the Nusantara area, highlighting the positive response received from students and expressing hopes for long-term benefits, including readiness for Olympiad competitions and improved English proficiency in daily activities.
