President Prabowo Subianto held meetings with world leaders and special envoys at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, following his inauguration as President of Indonesia for the 2024-2029 term
ON Sunday, October 20, 2024, President Prabowo Subianto hosted a series of diplomatic meetings with global leaders and special envoys at Merdeka Palace, Jakarta. These meetings took place shortly after his official inauguration as the President of Indonesia for the 2024-2029 term. Prior to the meetings, many of the dignitaries had attended the inauguration ceremony at the Nusantara Building of the MPR/DPR/DPD.
The first meeting was held with Australia’s Deputy Prime Minister Richard Marles, who arrived at around 4:30 p.m. local time. After a photo session and signing the guest book in the Credential Room, President Prabowo and Deputy Prime Minister Marles had discussions in the Jepara Room.
Subsequently, President Prabowo met with the UK’s special envoy David Lammy and New Zealand’s Deputy Prime Minister Winston Peters. These diplomatic exchanges aimed to strengthen ties and discuss potential collaborations between Indonesia and their respective countries.
In addition to special envoys, several heads of state also visited the Merdeka Palace. The leaders included South Korean Prime Minister Han Duck Soo, Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, Papua New Guinea’s Prime Minister James Marape, Vanuatu’s Prime Minister Charlot Salwai, Laos’ Vice President Pany Yathotou, and China’s Vice President Han Zheng.
These meetings marked a significant step in President Prabowo’s diplomatic efforts, focusing on enhancing cooperation across various sectors to benefit both Indonesia and its partner nations.
