FOLLOWING his participation in the Opening Reception of the 21st IISS Shangri-La Dialogue, Indonesian Defence Minister Prabowo Subianto held a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister of Singapore H.E. Lawrence Wong at the Istana Singapore on Saturday, 1st June 2024. During the meeting, Minister Prabowo expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and commended Mr. Wong’s leadership and communication with the Indonesian government.
Minister Prabowo reaffirmed Indonesia’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with Singapore. He emphasised the Ministry of Defense’s readiness to enhance defence cooperation, especially after the enactment of the Defense Cooperation Agreement (DCA). This agreement covers joint exercises, maritime security, and educational exchange programs, as highlighted by Minister Prabowo.
Accompanying Minister Prabowo during the bilateral meeting were Mr Sugiono, Vice Chairman of Commission I of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI); Mr Budi Djiwandono, Vice Chairman of Commission IV of DPR RI; Lieutenant General (Ret.) Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, Special Assistant to the Minister of Defence for Defence Management; Brigadier General Ujang Darwis, Director General of Strategic Defence at the Ministry of Defence; and Mr Suryo Pratomo, the Indonesian Ambassador to Singapore.
