PRESIDENT Joko Widodo received Singapore’s Senior Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security, Teo Chee Hean, for a courtesy visit at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Thursday, 5th September 2024. The visit was part of Minister Teo’s participation in the Indonesia International Sustainability Forum (ISF) 2024.
According to Mr. Ari Dwipayana, the President’s Special Staff Coordinator, Minister Teo Chee Hean’s presence in Indonesia followed an invitation from Indonesia’s Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Mr. Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, to attend the ISF 2024. The forum, held at the Jakarta Convention Center, focused on global efforts to address climate change through sustainable growth and inclusive solutions.
The ISF 2024, themed “Towards Sustainable and Inclusive Growth,” gathered over 8,000 participants from around the world. The event highlighted five key pillars: green economy, energy transition, nature conservation, sustainable lifestyle, and a sustainable economy. Various global leaders and industry experts shared insights and best practices to tackle the challenges of climate change.
Other notable figures attending the event included Malaysia’s Deputy Prime Minister, Mr. Fadillah Yusof, China’s Minister of Industry and Information Technology, Mr. Jin Zhuanglong, and the Democratic Republic of Congo’s Minister of Environment, Ms. Eve Bazaiba. The forum also featured UN Special Envoy for Oceans, Mr. Peter Thomson, France’s Special Advisor for Climate Action, Mr. Kevin Magron, and notable figures from the private sector, such as KADIN Indonesia Chairman, Mr. Arsjad Rasjid, and Bezos Earth Fund CEO, Mr. Andrew Steer.
