MINISTER ERICK THOHIR UNVEILS THE LAMBUANG STATION CULINARY CENTRE IN BUKITTINGGI, EMPHASISING COLLABORATION FOR ECONOMIC AND TOURISM REVIVAL

Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs), Erick Thohir, officially opened the “Modern Culinary Center” at Lambuang Station in Bukittinggi City, West Sumatra, on Wednesday, marking a significant milestone for the region’s tourism and economy.

During the inauguration, Minister Thohir stressed the importance of collaborative efforts in revitalising Bukittinggi’s economic and tourism sectors post-COVID-19, emphasising the need for cooperation among various stakeholders to transform the city into a thriving tourist destination.

Highlighting the critical role of culinary arts in boosting tourism, Minister Thohir underscored the significance of picturesque landscapes, vibrant culture, and robust infrastructure to attract visitors to West Sumatra, known globally for its culinary heritage.

House member Andre Rosiade lauded the collaborative initiative behind the Lambuang Station Culinary Center, citing it as a testament to West Sumatra’s accelerated development through cross-sectoral partnerships between local and central governments, the House of Representatives, and other stakeholders.

Bukittinggi Mayor Erman Safar expressed optimism about the centre’s potential to drive economic growth, emphasising its integrated culinary tourism concept designed to attract tourists from diverse regions and contribute to both local and national economies.

Mayor Safar’s vision for the Lambuang Station Culinary Center aligns with Bukittinggi’s aspiration to position itself as a premier culinary destination, aiming to leverage its rich culinary heritage to enhance tourism and revenue generation opportunities.
