STRENGTHENING STAKEHOLDER COORDINATION, INDONESIA’S TOURISM AND CREATIVE ECONOMY MINISTRY HOLDS A TECHNICAL MEETING TO ENHANCE TOURISM POTENTIAL IN CENTRAL AND EASTERN REGIONS.
The Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry, under the leadership of Minister Sandiaga Uno, convened a technical coordination meeting aimed at fostering collaboration among stakeholders to bolster tourism development in central and eastern Indonesia. The meeting, held in Jakarta, aimed to deepen understanding of policies and strategies essential for nurturing tourism destinations and the creative economy sector.
Deputy for Destination and Infrastructure Development, Bapak Hariyanto, emphasised the significance of 2024 as the final benchmark for the 2020-2024 National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN), marking a pivotal transition towards the Golden Indonesia vision of 2045. The meeting sought to reinforce central and regional coordination, synchronise networks, and devise strategies for sustainable growth in tourism and the creative economy.
RPJMN 2025-2029 outlines a strategic focus on key tourism destinations, including Lake Toba, Borobudur, Lombok-Mandalika, Labuan Bajo, and Raja Ampat, among others. The plan also highlights the Greater Area, encompassing Regenerative Bali, Batam-Bintan, Jakarta, and the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) Economic Superhub, as pivotal regions for tourism development.
In parallel, creative economy development targets specific regions, including Jakarta, West Java, and Bali, among others, to foster innovation and entrepreneurship in cultural and artistic sectors. The development framework emphasises the alignment with sustainable and regenerative tourism principles to ensure long-term viability and environmental stewardship.
Despite challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, Indonesia’s tourism and creative economy sectors have shown resilience and strong signs of recovery. While not yet reaching pre-pandemic levels, the sector’s robust rebound underscores the importance of continued collaboration and strategic planning to unlock the full potential of Indonesia’s diverse tourism offerings.
