
Eleven Indonesian students earned gold medals at the prestigious Singapore International Math Olympiad Challenge, joined by over 2,400 participants from 40 countries
Singapore, 8 July 2025 — Indonesian Ambassador to Singapore, Suryo Pratomo, attended the Global Finals Awards Ceremony of the Singapore International Math Olympiad Challenge (SIMOC) 2025. The event, held with great fanfare in Singapore, also welcomed guest of honour Halimah Yacob, former President of Singapore (2017–2023) and current advisor at the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS).


SIMOC is an annual international mathematics competition that draws high-performing students from across the globe. This year, the competition saw the participation of approximately 2,400 students from Singapore and 40 other countries, underlining growing international enthusiasm for mathematics and youth talent development.
Indonesia stood out as the largest participating delegation, with around 470 students. Eleven Indonesian students received gold medals and perfect score awards, marking a significant achievement and highlighting the country’s growing emphasis on STEM education. The students represented various regions of Indonesia, showcasing the nation’s diverse and widespread academic potential.



Ambassador Suryo Pratomo praised the students’ dedication and hard work, noting that international events like SIMOC not only enhance academic skills but also build global friendships, broaden perspectives, and foster confidence. He encouraged the participants to continue striving for excellence and to view this experience as a foundation for future international engagement.
Indonesia’s strong showing at SIMOC 2025 reflects its commitment to strengthening education in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. The event concluded on a high note, celebrated by students, educators, and families alike, with hopes that such achievements will inspire more Indonesian youth to pursue excellence and innovation on the world stage.
