As part of its ongoing commitment to safeguarding and empowering Indonesian seafarers, the Transportation Attaché of the Indonesian Embassy in Singapore recently organised another Mobile Seafarer Service (MoSS) session in the Tuas area. This initiative aims to bring essential consular and advisory services directly to where many Indonesian crew members live and work, ensuring easier access to support and guidance.

The MoSS programme provides a range of practical services, including document verification, employment consultations, and educational sessions on seafarers’ rights abroad. By offering these services on-site, the Embassy helps to reduce the need for seafarers to travel long distances to seek assistance, enabling them to focus on their work while staying informed about their rights and responsibilities.

Speaking on the initiative, representatives from the Transportation Attaché’s Office highlighted the importance of consistent outreach and engagement with Indonesian seafarers. They emphasised that such programmes are not only administrative but also serve as a platform to listen to seafarers’ concerns and ensure their welfare is prioritised.

The MoSS has been well received among the Indonesian maritime community in Singapore, particularly in Tuas—an area home to many docked vessels and shipping-related industries. The Embassy plans to continue conducting similar sessions across different parts of Singapore, reaffirming its dedication to protecting the interests of Indonesian workers in the maritime sector.

Through initiatives like MoSS, the Indonesian Embassy underscores its mission to provide accessible, proactive, and people-centred consular services, ensuring that every Indonesian seafarer in Singapore feels supported, protected, and valued.
