Director General of Sea Transportation at the Indonesian Ministry of Transportation, Antoni Arif Priadi, during the signing of the maritime human resource training and development cooperation agreement, held virtually with the Government of Singapore in Jakarta on 7 February 2025.

The Indonesian Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) and the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) have agreed to extend their long-standing cooperation on maritime training and human resource development. The partnership, which began in 2005, will continue for another two years under a renewed Training Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

The agreement was formalised during a virtual signing ceremony on Friday, where Indonesia’s Director General of Sea Transportation, Antoni Arif Priadi, and MPA Chief Executive Officer, Teo Eng Dih, signed the extension from their respective offices. This renewal marks two decades of collaboration between the two institutions.

Since its inception, the partnership has facilitated more than 110 training programmes and workshops, benefiting over 1,800 maritime officials and personnel. These initiatives have supported the effective implementation of International Maritime Organization (IMO) conventions, contributing to enhanced maritime safety and environmental protection. They have also equipped senior officials with the necessary expertise to navigate emerging challenges in the maritime industry.

Antoni highlighted that the extension reflects not only the strong cooperation between Kemenhub and MPA but also their shared commitment to adapting to developments in the maritime sector. Similarly, Teo Eng Dih emphasised that the MoU extension is a significant milestone, reinforcing the deep maritime ties between Indonesia and Singapore. He reiterated MPA’s commitment to further strengthening bilateral collaboration in maritime affairs.
