SINGAPORE, 16 June 2025 — The annual Leaders’ Retreat between President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, and Prime Minister of Singapore, Lawrence Wong, concluded on Monday with the signing of 19 strategic agreements across various sectors. The highly productive meeting, held at Singapore’s Parliament House, marked a significant step forward in the long-standing partnership between the two nations.

President Prabowo described the retreat as “very productive and successful,” highlighting the depth of bilateral cooperation achieved. In a joint press statement, he noted that the leaders held a fruitful tête-à-tête discussion and affirmed commitments in areas such as defence cooperation and the finalisation of technical details for military training zones. Both sides also made progress on extradition arrangements, including an updated MoU between their respective Attorneys General.

In the economic sphere, President Prabowo expressed appreciation for Singapore’s position as one of Indonesia’s top investors. He welcomed the progress of six bilateral economic working groups covering special economic zones, agriculture, tourism, manpower, and transport. A key focus was the collaboration between Singapore’s Temasek and Indonesia’s Danantara in renewable energy and the development of low-carbon zones in Batam, Bintan, and Karimun.

Food security and health transformation also featured prominently. Indonesia welcomed Singapore’s technology transfer in modern agriculture, urban farming, and sustainable post-harvest practices. President Prabowo invited Singapore to support Indonesia’s healthcare reform, including the establishment of new medical and nursing faculties. Skilled manpower placement, particularly in eldercare, was also discussed.

In terms of connectivity, President Prabowo stated Indonesia’s commitment to increasing direct flights with Singapore and upgrading airport infrastructure to improve accessibility. He concluded the retreat by underlining the enduring strength of the Indonesia–Singapore partnership, expressing hope for continued trust and collaboration. “I look forward to welcoming you and your delegation to next year’s Leaders’ Retreat in Indonesia,” he said.
