The Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Singapore, H.E. Suryo Pratomo, officially opened the “Cross-Border Sailing Best Practices” Workshop at Harris Hotel & Suites Nagoya Batam. The event gathered key stakeholders from both Indonesia and Singapore to discuss ways to improve coordination, communication, and collaboration in maintaining safe and efficient cross-border maritime operations.

In his opening remarks, Ambassador Pratomo emphasised the importance of mutual understanding and cooperation between the two nations’ maritime authorities. He highlighted that effective coordination plays a vital role in ensuring safety and order in shared waters, particularly given the dynamic nature of maritime activities in the region.

The workshop aimed to harmonise perspectives and strengthen technical cooperation in implementing best practices for cross-border sailing. Participants shared insights on operational standards, communication protocols, and joint safety measures to improve maritime traffic management between Indonesia and Singapore.

Beyond technical discussions, the forum also served as a platform to build stronger institutional relationships between relevant agencies. Both sides expressed optimism that the workshop would lead to sustained collaboration and the creation of safe, orderly, and sustainable waterways — reflecting the shared commitment of Indonesia and Singapore to maritime security and regional stability.
