Indonesia’s Ambassador to Singapore, Mr. Suryopratomo, officially opened the maritime workshop “Stay Compliant, Stay Sailing: International Shipping Without Detention” in Jakarta this week. The event aimed to raise awareness among Indonesian maritime stakeholders about international shipping standards and best practices to avoid vessel detentions abroad.

Held in the Indonesian capital, the workshop gathered key industry players, including maritime regulators, operators, and international classification bodies. The initiative underscores Indonesia’s commitment to strengthening its maritime sector through improved compliance with global regulations.

In his opening address, Ambassador Suryopratomo emphasised the importance of collaboration between regulators and industry stakeholders. He stressed that a strong synergy is essential to maintain a competitive, safe, and regulation-compliant Indonesian fleet. He also highlighted the role of maritime diplomacy in supporting the nation’s shipping competitiveness on the global stage.

The event served as a strategic platform for exchanging technical knowledge and insights from both Indonesian and international maritime authorities. With strong bilateral cooperation, particularly involving Singaporean maritime institutions, the workshop is seen as a step forward in enhancing Indonesia’s shipping resilience and minimising operational hurdles overseas.
