PPI Singapura held a community event offering free health services and care packages to Indonesian migrant workers in celebration of Kartini Day 2025
On Sunday, 18 May 2025, the Indonesian Students Association in Singapore (PPI Singapura) organised a social initiative titled “Peduli Kartini: Free Health Checks for Indonesian Migrant Workers” at the Sembawang Recreational Centre. The event was held in commemoration of Kartini Day and aimed to uphold the spirit of women’s emancipation by providing essential health services and distributing care packages to hundreds of Indonesian migrant workers in Singapore.

The programme served as a tangible expression of solidarity, care, and empowerment for migrant workers who have made significant contributions to their families and the nation. Activities included basic health screenings, medical consultations, and the distribution of food packages to help ease their daily burdens. It also acted as a space for fostering connection and strengthening the sense of community among Indonesians living in Singapore.
Various Indonesian community groups in Singapore supported the initiative, with volunteers from student organisations, social groups, and the Dharma Wanita Persatuan (DWP) of the Indonesian Embassy in Singapore participating actively. Their involvement demonstrated the strong communal spirit and cooperation within the Indonesian diaspora.
The Indonesian Ambassador to Singapore, Suryo Pratomo, also attended the event to offer moral and institutional support. He expressed appreciation for the youth-led initiative, noting that such activities not only benefit migrant workers directly but also reflect the living legacy of Kartini’s spirit through real action by young Indonesians abroad.

PPI Singapura reaffirmed its commitment to supporting and empowering Indonesian migrant workers through ongoing social and educational programmes. The “Peduli Kartini” event served as a reminder that the essence of emancipation lies in meaningful action, especially towards those most in need.
