
The Indonesian Presidential Special Staff strengthened creative economy and IP cooperation during a working visit to Singapore from 15 to 16 May 2025
Yovie Widianto, Special Staff to the President of the Republic of Indonesia, conducted a working visit to Singapore on 15–16 May 2025. The visit aimed to enhance cooperation in the field of intellectual property and explore opportunities for the development of Indonesia’s creative economy and market within Southeast Asia, particularly in Singapore.

The visit commenced with a meeting between Yovie Widianto and the Indonesian Ambassador to Singapore, Suryo Pratomo. They discussed strategic approaches to creative economy diplomacy and outlined actionable steps to support the entry of Indonesian creative products and talents into the Singaporean market. The conversation also addressed the importance of empowering the Indonesian creative diaspora in Singapore to contribute to strengthening the nation’s creative economy brand.
On 16 May, Yovie Widianto held a key meeting with the Regional Director for Asia and the Pacific of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). The intensive discussion revolved around current developments in global and regional intellectual property regulations, particularly those concerning artificial intelligence (AI).
AI emerged as a central topic, given its significant impact on the global creative sector. The dialogue examined how IP frameworks must evolve to accommodate technological advancements, and how Indonesia could play an active role in shaping this international conversation. Yovie Widianto highlighted the importance of maintaining a balance between protecting creative works and embracing technological innovation.
As a Presidential Special Staff with a background as a musician and creative industry practitioner, Yovie Widianto brought both practical insights and strategic perspectives to the discussions, reinforcing Indonesia’s commitment to positioning the creative economy as a core pillar of national development.
