President Prabowo Subianto and Prime Minister Lawrence Wong to discuss regional and bilateral issues during a state visit on November 6th 2024
President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to welcome Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong in Jakarta for a state visit on November 6th, 2024, as confirmed by the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Spokesperson Rolliansyah Soemirat announced the upcoming visit during a press briefing on Thursday in Jakarta, highlighting it as a significant opportunity for both nations to address shared concerns and strengthen diplomatic ties.
According to Soemirat, President Prabowo and Prime Minister Wong will cover a range of topics central to regional and bilateral interests, particularly those pertaining to ASEAN’s stability and cooperation. The high-level talks are expected to deepen understanding and foster collaborative strategies on mutual priorities. This presidential meeting will be preceded by a foreign ministers’ meeting on November 5th, where Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono will engage with his Singaporean counterpart, Vivian Balakrishnan, to align discussions in advance.
Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that both nations are coordinating efforts to ensure meaningful outcomes from the upcoming meeting. The spokesperson emphasised that Indonesia anticipates wide-ranging benefits for both countries from these discussions, marking a step forward in the Indonesia-Singapore relationship.
Following the visit, President Prabowo is set to participate in a series of international engagements, including the APEC Summit in Peru from November 10th to 16th and the G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from November 18th to 19th. Since his inauguration on October 20, 2024, President Prabowo has already held several diplomatic meetings, with Prime Minister Wong being one of the first foreign leaders he received.
