ASEAN member states gather in Singapore to mark the end of Laos’ chairmanship and showcase their rich cultural heritage
Singapore played host to a vibrant celebration of ASEAN’s diverse cultures as nine member states, including Indonesia, came together for the annual ASEAN Gala Night. The event, held to mark the end of Laos’ chairmanship of ASEAN in 2024, was graced by the presence of Albert Chua, Permanent Secretary of Singapore’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Indonesia, known for its rich culinary and cultural heritage, showcased a tantalizing array of dishes at the gala. Attendees were treated to mouthwatering treats such as Madura satay, siomay, traditional Indonesian kue basah, and delectable desserts provided by @ollella_singapore. The captivating performance of the Tari Pesona Nusantara dance by @dutasantarina_sanggar added another layer of enchantment to the evening, leaving the audience mesmerized.
The ASEAN Gala Night, a yearly tradition since 2010, serves as a platform for promoting ASEAN’s cultural diversity and strengthening regional solidarity, connectivity, and integration. It has become customary for ASEAN member states based in Singapore to host this social gathering at the end of each chairmanship, offering a unique opportunity to showcase their respective arts, cultures, and cuisines.
