The Singapore Chamber of Commerce Indonesia (SingCham), the leading business chamber representing the Singaporean business community in Indonesia, officially launched the ‘SingCham Uplifting Scholarship’ on 24 April 2025. This initiative, supported by Singapore-based companies with a strong presence in Indonesia, seeks to provide financial aid, mentorship, and professional exposure to Indonesian undergraduates. Notable partners include the edu-tech startup Kinobi as the ‘Program Partner,’ and corporate sponsors such as PT Bank UOB Indonesia, APRW, Titan Corporation, and Withersworldwide.

The scholarship is open to second- and third-year undergraduates, aged no older than 23, from universities in the Jabodetabek area. Applicants are evaluated based on academic merit, with a minimum GPA of 3.00, financial need, and a strong interest in ASEAN cooperation, particularly the partnership between Singapore and Indonesia. The top eight finalists will receive a semester allowance of up to IDR 4,000,000, paid internships at Singapore-based or Singaporean-led companies in Jakarta, and exclusive mentorship during the Uplifting Summit 2025. This one-day mentorship summit will feature Singaporean business leaders operating in Indonesia.

The SingCham Uplifting Scholarship aligns with SingCham’s vision of nurturing the next generation of Indonesian leaders by imparting the values and standards of Singapore’s professional excellence. The initiative aims to strengthen the economic and cultural connectivity between the two nations, offering scholars the tools and opportunities to contribute to the ASEAN region’s growth. SingCham anticipates expanding the programme in the future, increasing the number of participants to broaden its impact.

Shoeb Kagda, Chairman of SingCham Indonesia, commented, “As the leading business chamber representing the Singaporean business community in Indonesia, SingCham is committed to fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange between our two countries. This scholarship is a testament to our vision of driving long-term cooperation through education and industry engagement.”

Mrs Maya Rizano, Head of Strategic Communications and Brand at UOB Indonesia, stated, “UOB Indonesia believes in empowering young talents to reach their full potential. Our support for the SingCham Uplifting Scholarship Programme reflects our strong commitment to education, a key pillar of our CSR efforts. This initiative aligns with our broader focus on creating long-term, positive impact for children and youth across Indonesia. We are proud to contribute to meaningful partnerships that open doors to future leaders and nurture them to thrive in a dynamic, regional economy.”

The Uplifting Summit 2025, scheduled for July 2025 in Jakarta, will bring together Singaporean business leaders, scholarship finalists, and corporate partners for a day of mentorship and networking. The eight scholarship recipients will be announced from among the top 30 finalists of the programme during the event, which will be attended by SingCham council members and representatives from the sponsor companies.

Hafiz Kasman, President Director of PT Kinobi Technologies Indonesia (Kinobi), said, “We are proud to be the partner in administering the scholarship programme. Through the SingCham Uplifting Scholarship, we hope to benefit students, especially those in financial need. Recipients will not only receive financial assistance but also the opportunity to build a career with international standards. We will collaborate with our partner universities in Jabodetabek to share this valuable opportunity with students.”
