TOURISM and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno visited Pontianak, West Kalimantan, on 25th February 2024, where he urged regional governments to collaborate closely to leverage the sport tourism potential of their respective areas. Speaking at the Pontianak City Run event, Pak Uno emphasised the significant economic and societal benefits that sport tourism activities can bring to communities, highlighting their role in driving economic growth and enhancing living standards.
Pak Uno cited the Pontianak City Run as a prime example of a sport tourism event that has garnered enthusiastic participation from the local community. He underscored the importance of such events not only as sporting competitions but also as opportunities to promote tourism and stimulate economic activity within the region.
