MANPOWER MINISTRY COMMITS TO FOSTERING WORKFORCE RESILIENCE IN THE FACE OF DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION, EMPHASISING INCLUSIVITY AND TALENT DEVELOPMENT.

The Manpower Ministry of Indonesia has underscored the nation’s dedication to adaptive labor policies, acknowledging the transformative impact of digitisation and artificial intelligence (AI) on modern work environments.

Dr. Anwar Sanusi, Secretary General of the Manpower Ministry, emphasised Indonesia’s proactive stance in integrating new technologies while safeguarding the rights and welfare of workers, as communicated in a statement received on 13 March 2024.

Addressing the International Labour Organization (ILO) meeting in Geneva, Switzerland, on Monday (11 March), Dr. Sanusi highlighted the profound changes brought about by digitisation in labor markets, necessitating agile policy responses.

Indonesia is actively implementing adaptive manpower strategies to navigate the challenges posed by digitalisation, recognising the potential for enhanced productivity and efficiency, Dr. Sanusi reiterated.

Central to these efforts is the promotion of sustainable development and the continuous enhancement of workforce capabilities, ensuring that individuals are equipped with the requisite skills to thrive in the digital economy.

Dr. Sanusi emphasised the importance of inclusive policies, affirming the commitment to talent management and equitable opportunities for all individuals to contribute meaningfully to the workforce.

At the ILO meeting, discussions centred on the implications of digitisation, including AI technology and algorithm management, prompting Indonesia to propose a regulatory framework aimed at safeguarding workers’ rights and fostering fair treatment in the digital age.

Indonesia’s call for international collaboration underscores the shared responsibility in creating inclusive, resilient, and equitable workspaces for the future, aligning with global efforts to navigate the evolving landscape of work.
