Deputy Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy pledges support for the event, emphasising human resource training and diplomatic tours to boost tourism.
Deputy Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Ibu Angela Tanoesoedibjo, reiterated her ministry’s support for the 2024 Lake Toba F1 Powerboat racing event, affirming a commitment to bolstering human resource capabilities through training sessions and arranging diplomatic tours.
In an online discussion held on 27 February 2024, Bu Tanoesoedibjo disclosed plans to provide training focused on enhancing skills related to travel planning and the development of sustainable tour packages, aimed at fostering tourism development in the region.
As part of the support initiatives, diplomats from 20 countries, representing significant contributors to Indonesia’s foreign tourist influx, are slated to embark on a tour to explore tourist attractions around Lake Toba, situated in North Sumatra.
Key sites included in the diplomatic tour itinerary are the TB Silalahi Museum and the Toba Caldera Resort, providing an opportunity for diplomats to experience the cultural and natural splendour of the region firsthand.
In addition to training programs and diplomatic tours, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy is facilitating promotional activities for the F1 Powerboat event across various platforms, including social media channels and billboards, to maximise visibility and attract international attention.
Scheduled for March 2-3, 2024, the F1 Powerboat racing event has prompted collaborative efforts between the ministry and travel agents to craft tour packages, enabling tourists to explore the picturesque destinations surrounding Lake Toba following the adrenaline-fueled racing spectacle.
Addressing concerns about accommodation availability, Bu Tanoesoedibjo assured prospective spectators that ample lodging options are accessible, with a recorded total of 6,757 rooms spanning hotels, villas, homestays, and local residences across Toba, Simalungun, Samosir, and surrounding districts as of February 2024, ensuring a comfortable stay for attendees.
