The Indonesian Navy’s training ship, KRI Bima Suci, arrived in Singapore, marking its first ASEAN stop on a 90-day friendship mission

THE Indonesian Navy’s sail training ship, KRI Bima Suci, docked at Changi Naval Base in Singapore on Friday, August 9th, 2024. This marked the first ASEAN country visited by the ship, which was commanded by Lieutenant Colonel (P) Hastaria Dwi Prakoso, S.E., M.Sc. 

Indonesia’s Ambassador to Singapore, H.E. Suryo Pratomo, welcomed the ship’s arrival, accompanied by Naval Attaché, Colonel Yudo Herdyanto, Political Function Coordinator, Ms. Maryani, and Information, Social, and Cultural Function Coordinator, Mr. Juviano Dos Santos Ribeiro. The Ambassador also encouraged the cadets to become resilient future officers and manage Indonesia’s maritime territory, emphasising the nation’s identity as a maritime country that must thrive at sea.

KRI Bima Suci departed from Surabaya, East Java, on a 90-day friendship mission to Vladivostok, Russia, and other major port cities in East Asia. Aboard were 189 cadets from the Indonesian Naval Academy and 32 cadets from 17 ASEAN Plus Cadet Sail (APCS) 2024 participating countries.

On Monday, August 12th, 2024, H.E. Suryo Pratomo oversaw the departure of the Indonesian Navy’s ship, KRI Bima Suci, as it set off on its journey to Cambodia, Vietnam, China, South Korea, Russia, Japan, and the Philippines before returning to Indonesia. The ship’s commander, Lieutenant Colonel Hastaria, reported the readiness of the entire crew and the Indonesian Navy cadets to continue the 90-day mission. He conveyed well wishes for a safe and smooth voyage.
