Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR RI), Edhie Baskoro Yudhoyono, commenced his working visit to Singapore on 23 April 2025 with a courtesy call on Indonesian Ambassador to Singapore, Suryo Pratomo, along with other embassy officials. The meeting took place at the Indonesian Embassy in Singapore and served as the opening agenda of the MPR RI delegation’s visit.

During the meeting, Yudhoyono emphasised that the visit was part of MPR RI’s national diplomacy efforts to safeguard Indonesia’s sovereignty and maintain harmonious relations with strategic international partners. He also expressed his sincere appreciation for the dedication and hard work of the embassy in advancing Indonesia’s diplomatic interests abroad.

He highlighted the importance of synergy between legislative bodies and diplomatic missions in shaping a more inclusive and aspirational foreign policy. Ambassador Suryo Pratomo welcomed the delegation warmly and reaffirmed the embassy’s commitment to inter-institutional cooperation for the nation’s benefit. He also presented various potential areas of collaboration between Indonesia and Singapore, including updates on the upcoming general elections in Singapore scheduled for 3 May 2025.

The discussion covered a range of strategic issues, including parliamentary diplomacy, renewable energy cooperation, investment opportunities, the Flight Information Region (FIR) agreement, protection and empowerment of Indonesian citizens abroad, and efforts to further strengthen bilateral relations across multiple sectors.

The working visit took place from 23 to 25 April 2025. Throughout their stay, the MPR RI delegation engaged with key stakeholders in Singapore, including representatives from the Singapore International Chamber of Commerce (SICC), the Ministry of Environment, and the Ministry of Trade and Industry.
