Visit by Rear Admiral Ng Xun Xi highlights deepening maritime cooperation between Indonesia and Singapore in regional security efforts
Jakarta, 19 August 2025 — As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen maritime cooperation in the region, Commander of the Maritime Security (MARSEC) Command of the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN), Rear Admiral (RADM) Ng Xun Xi, paid an official visit to the Indonesian patrol vessel KN Bintang Laut-401, currently docked at Muara Baru Pier, Jakarta. The visit followed his meeting with Head of Bakamla RI (Indonesian Maritime Security Agency), Vice Admiral Dr. Irvansyah.
Accompanied by the Director of Cooperation of Bakamla RI, Rear Admiral Askari, RADM Ng was welcomed on board by the ship’s commanding officer, Lieutenant Colonel Haji Mulyono, along with the vessel’s officers. The crew delivered a concise briefing on Bakamla RI’s main functions, the operational capabilities of KN Bintang Laut-401, and its role in ensuring maritime safety and security within Indonesian waters.
Delegates were also introduced to the ship’s weapons systems and other operational technologies used during maritime patrol missions. The visit continued with a fruitful discussion between the Indonesian and Singaporean sides, focusing on strategies, experiences, and coordination in maritime surveillance and joint security operations.
RADM Ng Xun Xi was then given a tour of the ship’s bridge and key operational areas. The visit concluded with a photo session on the bow of the vessel, set against the backdrop of the ship’s naval gun — a symbolic gesture underscoring defence solidarity.
This visit signifies the shared commitment of both nations to enhancing bilateral ties and cooperation in the maritime domain, particularly in addressing common challenges such as illegal fishing, piracy, and maritime safety across shared sea lanes.
