The Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry, alongside the House of Representatives (DPR), delved into the potential of digital music in East Kalimantan, seeking to facilitate local musicians’ access to broader audiences.

Pak Mohammad Amin, the ministry’s Director of Music, Film, and Animation, emphasised the significance of music digitalisation in providing opportunities for East Kalimantan musicians to produce and distribute their music without geographical constraints.

Pak Amin highlighted the transformative role of digital technology, enabling musicians to record their music locally while benefiting from professional mastering and production services available in Jakarta.

The initiative aims to decentralise music production, promoting inclusivity by allowing artists from East Kalimantan to contribute to the vibrant music scene without relocating to Jakarta.

Moreover, the strategy encompasses not only production but also marketing, emphasising the importance of leveraging digital platforms to ensure widespread distribution and accessibility of East Kalimantan’s music.

House member Hetifah Sjaifudian echoed the collaborative spirit, expressing hopes for fruitful collaborations and opportunities for East Kalimantan musicians, aligning with their aspirations and fostering a thriving music ecosystem in the region.
