WE Empower Ltd and the Singapore University of Social Services (SUSS) signed a landmark agreement titled “Business Families Empowering Grassroots Enterprises.” The agreement aims to provide entrepreneurship training, internships, and environmental conservation through the Bamboo Project in Indonesia.

The collaboration between WE Empower and SUSS has received strong support from Charles Menaro, President Director of Meratus Line, an Indonesian shipping company that has pledged SGD 1 million in assistance for the program. In response to Meratus Line’s generous contribution, the Singaporean government has also pledged a matching amount of support.

Former Senior Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam delivered the keynote speech during the event, praising the initiative for its combination of environmental conservation and inclusive social missions. He expressed optimism that this collaboration would strengthen the ties between Indonesia and Singapore, contributing to the broader ASEAN family. Indonesian Ambassador to Singapore, H. E. Suryo Pratomo, also present at the event.

The “Business Families Empowering Grassroots Enterprises” agreement is set to have a positive impact on fostering entrepreneurship and sustainable development in Indonesia, while also promoting bilateral relations between the two neighboring nations. Through this partnership, it is hoped that grassroots enterprises in Indonesia will be empowered and equipped to make significant contributions to the conservation of the environment and the overall socio-economic growth of the region.
