The Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Singapore, Mr Suryo Pratomo, accompanied by the Trade Attaché of the Indonesian Embassy, Mr Billy Anugrah, delivered the opening remarks at the launch of the initiative “REGENESIS: Leading Climate Action” on 8 October 2025. The event marked the introduction of a new sustainability platform by Asia Pulp & Paper (APP), aimed at driving long-term environmental and climate action across the region.

In his address, Ambassador Suryo Pratomo highlighted the importance of cross-sector collaboration in achieving sustainable growth and mitigating the impacts of climate change. He noted that initiatives such as REGENESIS reflect the shared responsibility of governments, businesses, and communities in protecting the planet for future generations.

The REGENESIS initiative represents APP’s renewed commitment to forest conservation, ecosystem restoration, and environmental preservation, serving as a framework for long-term climate action and responsible resource management. Through this platform, APP seeks to strengthen its sustainability agenda and contribute meaningfully to the global transition towards a greener future.

Ambassador Pratomo further emphasised that this initiative aligns closely with Indonesia’s national priorities on environmental protection and sustainable development, as outlined in its long-term climate strategy. He commended the private sector’s proactive role in supporting Indonesia’s vision for balancing economic progress with environmental stewardship.

The launch of REGENESIS: Leading Climate Action thus stands as a significant milestone, not only for APP but also for the broader regional effort to foster collaborative climate action, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable resource management.
