Mr. Anindya Bakrie, Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN) shared three key programs aimed at supporting the government of Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka, as a result of the Extraordinary National Conference (Munaslub). He made this statement during the 2024 Milken Asia Summit, held in Singapore on Wednesday, September 18th, 2024.

Mr. Bakrie emphasised KADIN’s goals to strengthen public-private partnerships, involving significant participation from state-owned enterprises (BUMN). He also highlighted the need for international stakeholders to collaborate with Indonesia, particularly in the areas of investment, trade, and exports. Additionally, he focused on empowering small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), which make up 90% of businesses in Indonesia.

He noted that the economic continuity between the current government of President Joko Widodo and the upcoming Prabowo government remains vital. He expressed optimism regarding Indonesia’s 5.5% economic growth rate, and he praised Prabowo’s commitment to structural reforms, digital infrastructure, and energy transition, which aim to boost the country’s economic value.

Furthermore, Mr. Bakrie discussed the importance of advancing Indonesia’s critical minerals sector, such as nickel, copper, and tin, which are among the top five globally. He also touched upon the need for policies focused on free trade agreements (FTAs), particularly with the United States, to position Indonesia as a key player in the Global South and a balancing force between East and West.
