Singapore, 3 August 2025 — As part of its ongoing commitment to enhancing the quality of life and well-being of Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) abroad, the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) in Singapore organised a seminar on “Healthy Living and Mental Health Awareness” under the theme “Balancing Work and Managing Stress”, on Sunday, 3 August 2025.

Attended by around 150 Indonesian migrant workers, the event featured expert speakers including medical doctors and psychologists from Indonesia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The seminar covered key topics such as maintaining physical fitness amidst busy work schedules, adopting healthy lifestyle habits, and recognising and managing emotional stress.

In his opening remarks, Indonesian Ambassador to Singapore, H.E. Suryo Pratomo, emphasised the importance of holistic health as a foundation for the success of PMIs in their host country. He highlighted the Embassy’s commitment to supporting not just the productivity of workers, but also their happiness and health — both physical and mental.

Ambassador Suryo also praised the active participation of attendees and encouraged them to incorporate mental health awareness into their daily lives, viewing it not merely as a reaction to pressure but as a proactive element of self-care.

Participants engaged enthusiastically in the interactive discussions, sharing common challenges such as long working hours, homesickness, and workplace pressures. The seminar offered practical strategies for self-care, stress recognition, and building peer support networks within the migrant worker community.

This initiative is part of KBRI Singapore’s regular empowerment and protection programmes for Indonesian citizens, which go beyond legal and administrative assistance to include psychosocial support and personal development for PMIs.
