Indonesian Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati and EU Commissioner Paolo Gentiloni engaged in talks on pandemic mitigation strategies and bilateral cooperation during the G20 Meeting in Brazil.
INDONESIAN Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati and European Commissioner for Economy of the European Union (EU) Paolo Gentiloni convened to discuss the Joint Finance and Health Task Force (JFHTF) Initiative formulated by G20 finance and health ministers. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors Meeting in Sao Paulo, Brazil, on Thursday.
Minister Sri Mulyani highlighted the significance of the JFHTF Initiative, aimed at mitigating future pandemic threats, during her discussion with Commissioner for Economy Gentiloni. She expressed hopes for EU support for the initiative co-chaired by Indonesia and Italy this year.
Besides the JFHTF Initiative, bilateral cooperation between Indonesia and the EU, particularly in trade activities, was also on the agenda during the meeting between Minister Indrawati and Commissioner Gentiloni.
During her participation in the FMCBG Meeting, Minister Indrawati held meetings with other prominent figures including Treasurer of Australia Jim Chalmers, World Bank President Ajay Banga, and President of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) Jin Liqun.
In discussions with Treasurer Chalmers, Minister Indrawati highlighted Indonesia’s State Budget (APBN) performance and the country’s ability to sustain development agendas while maintaining the credibility of APBN.
Conversations with World Bank President Banga centred on cooperation between Indonesia and the institution, while topics related to development in Asia, including Indonesia, were discussed with AIIB President Jin Liqun.
