INDONESIAN DELEGATES CONTRIBUTE INSIGHTS AT THE GEO CONNECT ASIA EVENT IN SINGAPORE, FOSTERING COLLABORATION IN GEOSPATIAL TECHNOLOGY AND INFRASTRUCTURE.

Indonesia actively participated in the Geo Connect Asia event, held on 6-7 March, 2024, at the Sands Expo & Convention Center in Singapore. Among the distinguished speakers representing Indonesia were Silvia Halim, Deputy for Facilities and Infrastructure of the IKN Nusantara Authority, and Prof. Muh. Aris Marfai, Head of the Geospatial Information Agency.

Deputy Silvia Halim delivered insights during the panel session titled “Mastering the Processes in Critical Infrastructure,” emphasising the importance of integrating the latest spatial data technology into large-scale Indonesian IKN development projects. She underscored the necessity of establishing a conducive framework and fostering synergy among stakeholders.

Head of the Geospatial Information Agency, Prof, Muh. Aris Marfai, addressed the audience on the significance of developing consistent hydrospatial data accepted by all relevant stakeholders. Prof. Marfai’s presentation focused on aligning hydrospatial data with evolving technological advancements to enhance its utility and accessibility.

The overarching theme of Geo Connect Asia 2024, “Geospatial Driven Impacts: Underground, Land & Sea to Sky,” served as a platform for showcasing diverse geospatial products and technologies. The event facilitated collaboration among government bodies, industry players, and the air, sea, and underground geospatial communities across the ASEAN region. With over 2,400 participants from 51 countries, Geo Connect Asia 2024 fostered dialogue and knowledge exchange on emerging geospatial trends and innovations.

Since its inception in 2020, Geo Connect Asia has been a pivotal gathering supported by the Singapore Land Authority, featuring concurrent events like Digital Construction, Marine & Hydro Asia, and Drones & Unscrewed. The upcoming edition of Geo Connect Asia is slated for 9 and 10 April, 2025, promising continued engagement and advancement in geospatial technology and infrastructure.
