WEST JAVA GEARS UP TO HOST A LONG-DISTANCE CYCLING EVENT ON 25 MAY 2024, AIMING TO ELEVATE TOURSIM PROSPECTS IN THE PROVINCE’S EASTERN REGION.
The West Java provincial government announced plans to organise the Cycling de Jabar – West Java tournament on 25 May 2024. The event, themed “Sumanget Jawara,” will span 213 kilometres from Cirebon to Pangandaran along Java’s southern coast, as disclosed by West Java acting governor Bey Machmudin.
The cycling tournament is anticipated not only to attract participants but also to invigorate economic activity and tourism in the province. Bapak Machmudin emphasised the significance of synergising various sectors to bolster regional development, positioning the event as a catalyst for West Java’s progress.
In addition to promoting sportsmanship, the tournament aligns with the government’s objective of optimising West Java International Airport (BIJB) Kertajati in Majalengka.apak Machmudin highlighted the potential for an expo about Kertajati airport to coincide with the cycling route, spanning key areas like Cirebon, Kuningan, Majalengka, Ciamis, Banjar, and Pangandaran.
The provincial administration has undertaken comprehensive preparations, ensuring the availability of necessary infrastructure and healthcare facilities to support the event seamlessly. Bapak Machmudin reaffirmed the government’s commitment to providing full support for Cycling de Jabar 2024, underscoring its role in fostering regional development and tourism growth.
Encouraging safety and wellness, Bapak Machmudin urged participants to prioritise rest and cautioned against overexertion during the race. He emphasised the broader objective of identifying and nurturing talented cyclists who could emerge as future sporting icons from West Java and Indonesia.
