1. THE BIRTHDAY OF A CITY: JAKARTA ANNIVERSARY (HUT JAKARTA)
Observed annually on 22 June, the Jakarta Anniversary marks the founding of the Indonesian capital with a month-long programme of festivities. Events range from cultural performances and culinary fairs to sporting competitions and public exhibitions. A centrepiece of the celebration is the Jakarta Night Festival, a large-scale parade along Jalan Sudirman and Jalan Thamrin featuring elaborate floats, marching bands, and traditional dance groups. The occasion brings together residents from across the city in a shared expression of civic pride.
2. THE GRANDEST FAIR IN SOUTHEAST ASIA: JAKARTA FAIR KEMAYORAN (PRJ)
Returning from 11 June to 12 July 2026 at Jakarta International Expo, the Jakarta Fair Kemayoran remains one of Southeast Asia’s largest trade and entertainment exhibitions. Spanning 32 days, the fair combines commercial showcases with concerts, cultural parades, family attractions, and nightly fireworks. The 2026 edition adopts a “Wonderland” theme, aiming to deliver an immersive and imaginative visitor experience. With millions expected to attend, it continues to play a significant role in Jakarta’s tourism and economic landscape.
3. ART, MUSIC AND CREATIVITY: JAKARTA FESTIVAL OF ARTS (PEKAN KESENIAN JAKARTA)
Held at Taman Ismail Marzuki, the Pekan Kesenian Jakarta is a major platform for artistic expression. The festival gathers performers and creators from across Indonesia and beyond, presenting theatre, dance, music, and visual arts. Blending traditional forms such as gamelan and Betawi theatre with contemporary works, the event reflects the richness of Indonesia’s cultural heritage and Jakarta’s position as a national creative hub.
4. THE CITY THAT GLOWS: JAKARTA LIGHT FESTIVAL
Set against the historic backdrop of Taman Fatahillah, the Jakarta Light Festival merges technology, art, and heritage. A key highlight is the video mapping projection on the façade of the Fatahillah Museum, transforming the historic building into a dynamic visual canvas. The programme also includes light installations, music performances, and creative competitions, reinforcing Jakarta’s ambition to position itself among global creative cities.
